Quality Control Oversight of Four 7FA Major Inspections with Advanced Hot Gas Path and Compressor Upgrades

Our team worked closely with the GE crews to ensure there were no quality issues.  We assisted the customer with technical decisions and parts evaluations.  We documented lessons learned during each outage to improve efficiency and quality during the subsequent outages.  All outages were completed on time with no significant operational issues at startup.  Point Power also provided administrative and instrument and controls personnel to support this project.  



Project Management of 75MW GE Steam Turbine Intermittent Vibration Investigation and Repair

Reviewed vibration analysis reports and developed root cause investigation repair plan.  Provided onsite project management of the repair.  Due to maintenance vendor availability issues, also provided field engineering support to keep the project on track.  Resulted in identification of and internal rub, repair, re-balance, and the unit returned to service on time with the lowest vibration levels in the units history. 



Owner’s Representative of GE D11 Major, Nightshift

Provided a nightshift engineer to work with the owner’s engineer on dayshift to support a GE D11 Steam Turbine Major with diaphragm replacement.  The outage was completed in record time (35 days) with no significant operational issues. 



Owner’s Representative of 3 Mitsubishi 501GAC Warranty Outage

Provided a dayshift engineer to oversee and document the warranty replacement of Row 1 Vanes on three recently commissioned units. 



Contract Manager 25MW Francis Hydro Unit Upgrade

Provided onsite contract/project management of the runner replacement and generator rewind.  Coordinated various vendors and provided onsite management and oversight. 



Outage Supervisor of 2 7FA Compressor Stator Blade Replacements

While providing oversight of 4 borescope inspections, stator blade damage on two units was found.  Worked with the owner to coordinate and oversee the replacement of damaged compressor blades which required rotor removal.  Essentially managed two forced major inspections and completed all associated TILs during the process. 



Outage Supervisor and Shop Surveillance of 50 MW GE Steam Turbine Major

Provided and onsite supervisor to oversee the project work which included casing weld repairs.  Also provided shop oversight of all diaphragm and rotor repairs.  Our engineer worked with the customer and the vendor to reduce the diaphragm repair cost by 30% by removing items that were not beneficial to the long term reliability of the unit. 



Owner’s Representative for 2 7FA HGP with Liquid Fuel Re-commissioning

Provided outage oversight for the HGP inspections.  Provided planning, engineering, and oversight of the liquid fuel system re-commissioning. 



Owner’s Engineer for 40 MW Mitsubishi Steam Turbine Failure

Provided contractor oversight and supported the root cause analysis investigation of the failure.  Ultimately discovered the root cause and implemented short and long term corrective actions to prevent a future re-occurrence. 



Project Management of 7EA Major with Casing Alignment and Foundation Repairs

Provided onsite and offsite project management of a GE 7EA Major.  The project was started without a dedicated project manager and due to the issues discovered, Point Power was brought in to complete the original and additional scope required.  Due to the customer requirements, we also provided off-site personnel to manage the project cost tracking and reporting to owners. 



Outage Supervisor 2 of Westinghouse 501 D Majors with Exhaust Replacements and HGP Upgrades

Provided day and night shift supervision of two majors.  The scope included removal and refurbishment of the exhaust, replacement of one compressor rotor, replacement of all compressor diaphragms, and installation of upgraded hot gas path components.
